How can you blind infrared or night vision cameras?

April 7, 2010 - 6:45 am 4 Comments

I’ve heard that if a CCTV camera that operates on a photoelectric sensor is exposed to infrared LEDs, it will be overwhelmed and will present the image as an opaque white light. Is there any way this type of interference can be done with night vision or infrared cameras, and if so, how?

Are you planning an illegal activity for which you need to disable CCTV? I cant tnink of any other reason anyone would want to know how to disable the equipment. Im surprised anyone would offer tips on how to do this. Advice on how to do things like this are how events like 9-11 are made possible.

Home Security Cameras

Crimes are on the increase and criminals devise new ways of carrying out their criminal activities with each passing day. For this reason, we need to watch over the places in which we live to ensure that we are safe. But how do we keep an eye when we have so much to hassle and bassle about as we try to make ends meet? This is where the use of home security cameras comes in.

Some people tend to feel that installation of such gadgets is way too expensive, but the opposite is just true. A burglar who knows that he is being watched will freak out and not be able to break into your house. A burglar who is caught on camera during his operation will have no reason not to be prosecuted because the evidence will be first hand. Do you see how this gadget watches over your home and makes it safer?

While there are many versions of home security cameras that you can choose from, it is more advisable that you check with the reputable supply firms so that you can get expert advice. You will also get to be advised on the effectiveness of each type of gadget.

Different security cameras will be offered at different prices and while some will be very expensive, there are those that you will be able to get at fairly affordable prices. Again, the specifications of the gadget will dictate the prices of the same. For example, you might find that a Night Vision Camera will be more costly than a day time one. This is because it has features that will allow you to see clearly despite the darkness.

How does night vision on a camera work ?

March 24, 2010 - 8:01 am 4 Comments

When light strikes an object, its atoms react and emit a very low frequency infrared wavelength, more similar to heat than to visible light. Night Vision Security Cameras are extremely sensitive to these thermal-infrared emissions and amplify them, converting the measurement of the invisible wavelength into an image on your monitor. This type of Night Vision is known as Thermal Imaging. While Thermal Imaging is great for detecting people or motion in near absolute darkness, most of the cameras sold here use a more practical kind of Night Vision known as Image Enhancement or Image Intensification. These devices contain a lens that senses light at a slightly higher frequency than thermal-infrared, anywhere from the more reflective infrared wavelengths to the barely visible red wavelengths. The light’s photons are converted to electrons and amplified through a component called the photocathode. The electrons are then converted back into photons to produce a strong visible image on your camera’s phosphor screen.

While we are living in a period of unparalleled prosperity, we face many challenges. Globalization has brought wealth and lifted millions out of poverty, but the financial crisis has thrown the world economy into disarray. In the United States unemployment and home foreclosures have made once prosperous and safe neighborhoods a hotbed for crime. We need to remain ever vigilant in these tough times to protect our valuables and our loved ones. Security surveillance systems, which are necessary even in good times, are now essential in these times of uncertainty.

There are many sites on the web that can assist you in choosing a security camera for your home or your business establishment. These cameras come in different shapes and sizes and all of them use the latest technology available. You can choose from the simple two camera security system to the more advanced wireless security camera systems. Other cameras like outdoor cameras, bullet cameras, night vision cameras, hidden cameras etc. are also available on the net. Other advanced security items like security DVR cards, surveillance monitors, and security camera accessories are also available. This equipment comes in many different shapes and sizes, depending upon the area or the building that you want to secure.

Quality security cameras are at the heart of a quality security system. Make sure you buy from a provider that will stand behind their product and allow you to return the product if not satisfied. And while security systems are expensive, there is no need to overpay, even 8 Camera Security systems can be had for under $1000. A quality security system will provide you with peace of mind and protect your valuables and loved ones, nothing is more important.

Night Vision Camera?

March 3, 2010 - 3:57 pm 2 Comments

Is there a camera that takes really good night pictures in very dark conditions?

How about a camera that actual has GEN 1 night vision built in?

You have several options:
1. Buy a separate nightvision device and take a picture through it with a regular camera. I’ve done that. It was tricky to get them to line up since neither was designed for this, but I was able to get some decent results.
2. Just get a digital camera that will take a picture of a long (more than five seconds) period of time. I’ve done this with excellent results.
3. Get a digital camera with a really high (1600) ISO setting. I’ve done this in places like circuses where they don’t allow flash photography and gotten tolerable results.
4. The Fujifilm S3 Pro UVIR sees visible light, infrared light, and ultraviolet light. I can’t afford one, but if I could I sure as heck would get one. It sees twice the bandwidth of light, so everything should look twice as bright. The color won’t be right in shots like that though.
5. What the other guy said.
