Are there nightvision addons for normal rifle scopes?

January 13, 2010 - 1:46 am 5 Comments

I’m making a super mega awesome sniper rifle and im going to use a normal scope for aiming. However i want a night vision addon. I want something i can either put on in front of or behind my normal scope and make it night vision.
Does anyone know of any night vision scopes/monoculars with picatinny/weaver rail mounts?
I dont want one if they have reticles or cross hairs, since my normal scope will have crosshairs already.

You’re going to make a "SUPER MEGA AWESOME ""SNIPER"" RIFLE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! Coool!

You should go find a shiny spoon for a bit and let this pass. – It’s sounding like you need more "airsoft" or Call of Duty time.

Is it probable that I will become a detective or SWAT w/ military experience and college credits?

January 1, 2010 - 6:51 pm 5 Comments

I am a United States Marine Corps Reservist, I get off active duty and will check in to my reserve unit this summer. I will be 21 years old with 24 college credits and i’ve earned 21 transferrable college credits while in the marine corps. I want to know how quickly can i become a detective or swat member with 45 college credits(just different courses not involved with criminal justice), military experience, and a clean background. I plan to work for the Dallas, TX police department. So is it possible to become detective without a degree and how long would it take. Also can police officers bring their own gear(face mask, ballistic shields, Night Vision Monoculars) while patrolling?

Your getting ahead of your self hard corp. You need to just focus on being hired to start. After that you are gonna have to prove your self as a uniform officer. Becoming a well rounded police officer doesn’t happen over night and you are going to be competing with officers with more time and experience then you for specialty slots like swat and cib (detective). Your background is important and will lay the ground work for being a good officer but don’t forget there are a ton of guys and girls with your same background gunning for those jobs. Never rely on your resume to get you where you wanna go. In my opinion you need at least 5 years as a patrol officer before you have enough experience to transfer to a specialty position. As for your own gear most departments allow to carry some personal gear but they will only allow it if you have been trained BY THEM to carry it. Otherwise you open yourself and the Dept. up to mucho civil liability. Remember you gotta walk before you run just work on the basics for now and once you get hired and get your street creds as a uniform rookie then and only then can you think about movement within the Department. Good Luck Devil. Semper Fi.

What do you think about this Night Vision Monocular?

December 23, 2009 - 12:13 am 3 Comments

hi, I want to purchase a Night Vision Monocular without paying a fortune for it. What do you guys think about the Yukon spirit 4X50? Does anyone have any experience with it? I read some reviews but I still want some more info before I make my purchase. Also does the image appear green. Because a relative of mine bought a $400 NV monocular and it looks as if your looking through a camera (black and white) and the image is not very clear.
here is the link of the Product

This one is likely worse than your relative’s. Its low quality and 1st generation. Real good night vision cost thousands to over 10k if you want clear B&W or Green.

4×50 Night Vision Monoculars

December 14, 2009 - 12:22 am No Comments

4x50 <a rel='nofollow' href=Night Vision Monoculars” />

The Yukon NVMT series embraces modern, cutting edge technology without forgetting practicality. The NVMT 4×50 is the most powerful handheld in the Yukon arsenal; the incredible 50mm lens ensures powerful light gathering and light transmission for a pristine image. Capable of being transformed into any of the NVMT line’s variations, the 4×50 can be used with NVMT Riflescope Conversion Kit and NVMT Head Gear Kit (recommend using #29051 2×24 Objective Lens). All monoculars in the NVMT series have excellent light amplification performance, amplifying visible light several thousand times, and the exclusive Pulse built-in infrared illuminator that expands viewing range and minimizes battery drainage. Fully multi-coated optics decrease glare and improve light transmission to provide an excellent viewing experience while the compact and durable Rubber Armor body is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in a pocket, yet rugged enough to withstand use. The NVMT 4×50 is backed by Yukon’s limited lifetime warranty.

Migraines caused by intense light in one eye?

December 13, 2009 - 2:58 pm 3 Comments

A while ago, on one night, I used a Night Vision Monocular– a present I was given. I only placed it in front of my right eye, and though that brought me no discomfort at the time, I could tell what an effect the light had had when I would open one eye, and then open the other. One would have much darker vision.

Anyway, the next day I had a painful migraine, and since then I have been afraid to use the monocular for that reason.
But, honestly, I have no idea if there is cause for concern.
Is there?

I get a migraine from a short bit of even indirect sunlight or overly-bright light.

Though my issues seem different than yours.

I would go see an ophthalmologist rather than an ordinary optometrist for your next annual eye exam. He will be able to better examine your optic nerves and pinpoint any problems. One was able to discern an issue with my mother’s cerebrospinal fluid (the stuff your brain ‘floats’ in) pressure, caused by pseudotumor cerebri (luckily it was only that, and not a cancerous tumor, which it very well could have been).

I always suggest an ophthalmologist over a common optometrist, especially if you feel there is something not quite right.

Vision is our most precious sense, and we must protect it, for it is one of the the greatest wonders evolution has accomplished.

Should I get a night vision binocular or monocular?

December 4, 2009 - 8:03 pm 1 Comment

I want to buy a night vision device, but I am trying to decide between a monocular, or a binocular, both of which would be head-mounted.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to both?

Here are the specific models I’m looking at:

http://www.atncorp.com/units/nightvision/nightvisiongogglesandbinoculars/atnnightscout

They will be used mainly for fun, possibly for airsoft and generally just jacking around.

When spotlighting its real easy for someone to look out and see the light and call the cops on you but i use mine to locate the deer and then just use the light for those few seconds that i need it. It makes things a lot easier and alot more successful.
